since the age of 9 as an ambitious and gifted boy whose works prevailed over all others granted the young Hover Montes his first exhibition in Lima, Peru in 1964, then in 1971, the National Incari award. Over the years, the artistic talents of Hover Montes have extended to the diversified culture's found in Peru's other regions influenced by both Incan and Spanish ascendancy in modern, abstract and rustic effect. National Museum of Peru with serveral other works remaining in various international hotels,
government offices and embassy residenses. His exhibitions have included shows in Washington D.C. for the Organization of American States, The World Bank, The Department of State Building with invitation from the Foreign Affairs Recreation Association, The National Geographic Headquarters, The International Monetary Fund, The Pan-American Health Organization, attendance at the Gaithersburg, Maryland Shaker Festival in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005, the Maryland Surgarloaf Festival in 2005, a recent exhibit in both Kyodai, Japan and Tel Aviv, Isreael and a tour across eastern and western Europe.
Hover Montes has become the best representative for Peruvian tapestries of our times, devoting a lifetime of work in preserving the timeless beauty of creating hand woven tapestries for all of us to admire, an authentic Peruvian tradition originating from the Incan civilization of South America that has been handed down to Hover Montes and is continued as well through the talented work of his son David Montes.
